Senator Linturi's remark sparked outrage among Kenyans and other officials, who accused him of hate speech and blatantly attempting to sow discord in the country.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), a directive has been issued to investigate the Senator for his alleged hate speech and inciting letter.

"The DPP has directed that full inquiries into the comments of Hon. Mithika Linturi be conducted swiftly. We would like to inform the public that those found guilty of hate speech and incitement will face prosecution.
