On Monday, Tiaty MP William Kimket was acquitted of charges against him regarding incitement to violence with lack of witnesses.
William Kimket was accused last year of inciting Laikipia clan, the Ol Moran, into war and was arrested on September 8, 2021. Nakuru Chief Magistrate Ednah Nyaloti acquitted Tiaty's MP William Kimket of the charges against him after the prosecutors failed to produce witnesses.
The statement filed by the Prosecutors alleged the MP during a meeting held in Amaya in Tiaty constituency, Baringo County on July 16, 2021, spoke inciting words that may have disrupted peace and start a war between clans in the respective area.
The Magistrate said that the prosecution had received adequate time to produce exhibits and witnesses against the MP but failed to do so. The prosecutors tried to drop the case so that they may have time to gather evidence after Mr. Kimket was acquitted and re- arrest him with viable evidence.
