Following reports that Mt Kenya members of parliament are in the process of coming up with a list of demands for the deputy president, they have met a lot of criticism from their counterparts Kieleweke members of parliament.
The Mt Kenya members of parliament who populary refer to themselves as Tangatanga held a meeting on April 22,2021 and finally came up with a full list of demands they plan to present to the deputy president. The meeting was held in Kikuyu at the home of Kimani Waichung'wa in Kiambu county.
Kieleweke members of parliament have trashed this meeting saying its a dream hard to come true. The Kieleweke group said its ironic for the Tangatanga members of parliament to demand for anything after supporting Ruto for 3 years.
They also said that these members of parliament from the Mt Kenya region are only doing this for their personal gain."If you go back to their constituencies, they don't carry out the aspirations and mandates of the people they are purporting to represent. You will be shocked that these people are not speaking on behalf of the people,"Kieleweke members of parliament said.
The Tangatanga members however defended themselves. They asked why would the Kieleweke group criticize them for engaging the deputy president into talks yet they said Ruto won't be available in 2022 presidential elections.
Kimani Waichung'wa added that their negotiations are aimed at improving the economic development of Mt Kenya region before talking about politics.
The big question however remains. Are the Mt Kenya region members of parliament really thinking about the welfare of their constituents or are they only interested in securing top government positions when Ruto becomes president?
