Wiper Party leaders have demanded that Raila Odinga hand over leadership of Azimio to Kalonzo Musyoka, who is set to make a major political announcement.
On Saturday, December 31, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua told the media that it was past time for Raila to back Kalonzo for the seat.
He argued that Azimio should take a page from President William Ruto's book and choose their 2027 flagbearer early enough to begin campaigning.
"We need enough time to popularize our candidate, visit as many parts of the country as possible, and ensure that Kenyans become acquainted with the idea of a Kalonzo presidency," Wambua said.
Furthermore, the senator requested that Odinga deliver his support base from across the country to the Wiper party leader.
"I am very happy to see the activity by the party leader, but he cannot drop the ball, he should hand it over to someone else, not drop it.
"I believe that Kalonzo's selflessness benefited Raila and the Nyanza backyard of ODM and other strongholds. It is only fair that they return the favor in January," Wambua stated.
Close associates of the potential running mate revealed that he has been meeting with political leaders across the country for advice on his bid.
The conversations will be the highlight of his big announcement later this month.
Wiper's new irreducible minimums are causing concern in Azimio because Raila has not stated whether or not he will face Ruto again in 2027.
"I am not required to run for President in 2027. If I do not run, someone else will, but I have not stated that I will not run again "On December 28, he revealed.
Meanwhile, Azimio CEO Martha Karua has yet to announce whether she will run for president in 2027.
