On 9th August 2022 general elections, the residents of Nairobi voted for Johnson Sakaja of United Democratic Alliance to be the governor of Nairobi. Sakaja became the fourth governor after Evans Kidero, Mike Sonko and Ann Kananu.
Mike Sonko has now differed with the actions of Johnson Sakaja, he has told the newly elected governor to respect the people of Nairobi, the UDA party and the deputy president. Sonko says that if he was in the ballot Sakaja may not have became the governor of Nairobi.
Sonko has told Sakaja that though he has the support of members of the county assembly of Nairobi, he will still be removed from office by the people collecting enough signatures against him rather than the usual means of using the MCAs.
Sonko wants Sakaja to agree with the clubs owners in Nairobi on how they should operate while minding their neighbours so that business can continue as usual.
