Huge Amount of Money Expected To Be Used During 2022 General Elections That Has Left Kenyans Talking

The clock is still ticking and Kenyans are counting days as they wait for the 2022 general elections. The puzzle on who will be the best candidate to be chosen to run the country over the constitutional period after the elections remains a big and vital examination for all Kenyans.

As different people continue to table their aspirations for Kenyans ahead of the general elections, the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman, Wafula Chebukati has issued fresh details as far as preparations for the elections are concerned.

While speaking to the press today morning, he (Chebukati) has confirmed the the general elections will be conducted as per the earlier announced constitutional dates. That is, 9th August, 2022. This depicts that Kenyans are remaining with exactly 1 year before they choose new political leaders in various positions across the country.

With that affirmation, Wafula Chebukati has stated that the elections slated on the aforementioned dates are budgeted to cost a whooping Kshs 40.9 billion.

Nevertheless, about Kshs 600 million is expected to account for purchasing of Covid 19 items that will be used by officers during the whole voting exercise.

The huge amount has left Kenyans surprised pushing them to take their opinions over the same online. Some have claimed that the budgeted amount is extremely high and that will push the country to a tight corner as far as the recovery of the economy is concerned amid the Covid 19 constraints.
