Charles Owino has withdrawn from the Siaya Governor race after he had accepted to be Nicholas Gumbo running mate, the former Rarieda member of parliament.The ex- police spokesperson has left his candidate without a running mate.
The police spokesperson decided to return to the National Police Service leaving the political scene, the two were contesting against Orange Democratic Movement candidate in Siaya, Senator James Orengo , under the Democratic Movement party ticket. this surprise exit comes after Mr Owino had earlier stated in 2021 that he would retire from the National Police Service to focus on his political aspirations and to succeed the outgoing governor Cornel Amoth Rasanga . The information on what position the former spokeperson will take in the National Police service is yet to be made public .
Mr Owino had served under the National Police Service Small arms and light weapons department as the deputy director .
