Musalia Mudavadi Joins in Congratulating Agnes Kavindu Following Her Landslide Victory in Machakos

Wiper Movement party candidate in Machakos Senatorial by-elections Agnes Kavindu has emerged the winner in less contested polls that were conducted yesterday.

Congratulations messages trickled in with Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi penning down his message.

Through his Twitter account, Musalia congratulated Kavindu stating that today was a great day for women in politics after Madam Salim Suluhu Hassan was sworn in as the sixth president of Tanzania.

"A great day for women in leadership as congratulations are also in order to Hon Agnes Kavindu on her Landslide Victory in the Machakos Senatorial by-elections. Her win demonstrates the confidence the people of Machakos have in her.." said Mudavadi.

According to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Kavindu won the post that was left vacant following the death of Senator Boniface Kabaka by a massive gap.

Her main competitor Urbanus Ngengele who was flying the flag of United Democratic Alliance, UDA emerged second with 19,726votes compared to Kavindu who had 104,352.

A day before president Kenyatta suspended political gatherings, the third alliance that comprises of Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula, Gideon Moi and Musalia Mudavadi had camped in Machakos to drum support for Kavindu.

Her win is a plus to Kalonzo Musyoka has it has affirmed his control over Ukambani votes.
