All is Set For Wajir County To get New Governor after Senate Approved Governor Mohammed impeachment

Wajir County to get new Governor after the County Governor Mohammed Abdi Mohamud was impeached yesterday by the Senate over gross misconduct of the constitution.

The Governor was found guilty and Senate special committee approved his impeachment.

This is after 25 Senators out of 47 upheld the impeachment of the Governor by the County Assembly over suspected gross breach of the Constitution, as suggested by an 11-member Special Committee of the Senate. Two Senators opposed the impeachment and four abstained.

Ahmed Ali Muktar the Deputy Governor will be sworn is as the governor of Wajir replacing his boss Governor Mohammed.

The County Clerk is ensuring that there is smooth transition of power in a small ceremony which will be held at County Headquarters.

Governor Mohammed is the 3rd governor to be impeached after Ferdinand Waititu Former Governor of Kiambu and Mike Mbuvi Sonko the Former Governor of Nairobi.

He is the 9th Governor to face impeachment since the 2010 constitution came to action.
