Raila Promise to Permanently Exempt Tax for This Group of People

The Azimio La Umoja - One Kenya Alliance Coalition presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga with his Azimio brigade have been touring various parts of the country requesting for support in his bid for presidency ahead of the August 9th polls. Therefore, on Tuesday, the ODM leader said that, his administration will permanently exempt tax for People With Disabilities (PWDs).

This is expected to salvage PWDs, as currently the law grants PWDs a tax exemption for the first Ksh.150,000 of their gross income, however, any other income above this limit is subjected to the normal taxation. Therefore, according to the former Prime Minister, his government will exempt PWDs from the burden of paying tax on income derived from employment.

The Azimio coalition presidential hopeful has equally vowed to ensure there is free education in both primary and secondary schools, necessitate the increase of employment for PWDs in the public sector from the current 5 % to 10%, if he clinches to the country's top most seat in the upcoming August general elections.

Raila Odinga while speaking after meeting PWDs' representatives conclusively emphasized that, he will improve the agricultural, healthcare, education, and infrastructure sectors including road construction.
