Ruto Speaks Out, Explains Why Raila Should be Kept Far From The Presidency

Kenyans have now been advised against electing ODM party leader Raila Odinga as their next President in next year's general elections.

Raila is among the leading contenders in the contest, the other frontrunner being Deputy President William Ruto, who wants Kenyans to avoid Odinga.

Speaking in Kianyaga in Kirinyaga on Sunday, he said that nothing good can come from Raila, making him not the best person to lead the country.

He held that Raila is a politically intolerant person who engineered the death of the Jubilee Party, denying Kenyans development as a result.

Ruto added that Raila is also an anti-development crusader who cannot tolerate opposition, saying that Kenyans should fear such a man's leadership.

"Isn't this the same person who only recently had me stoned in Kisumu? Can a stone thrower and party wrecker really lead us? No," said the DP.

He made the remarks after again indirectly bashing President Uhuru Kenyatta over his percieved support for the former Premier as his successor.

Ruto again claimed that Uhuru is trying to impose Raila on Mt Kenya residents, holding that the leader cannot be trusted with the leadership of Kenya.

"We, the eight million of us, have formed the government twice since 2013. Can it now be said that we cannot get a candidate and they have to bringing in the man if riddles to lead us?" posed the DP.

He said that he is the only one who has stood with Uhuru from the very start, including during their days as ICC suspects, and deserves his (Uhuru) backing.
