The BBI debate has continued to form the main discussion in Kenyan politics. This has mainly been ignited by existence of two opposing sides. The proposers of this report have argued that BBI contains solutions to most of Kenya's problems. Those opposing the report on the other hand have claimed that this is not the right time for constitutional amendments. They have also added that BBI is not the solution to Kenya's problems.
William Ruto has been linked with the opposition side of the BBI report. This is after most of allies appeared to fight the report. Ruto however said that he will not give his position on the BBI.
As the BBI debate goes on, Mwangi Kiunjuri has leaked why they decided not to oppose the BBI report. Speaking in Nyandarua on Sunday 14, Kiunjuri said that it would be unwise to spend over 2 billion to do the 'No' campaigns. Kiunjuri argued that the proposers of the report are using government resources and so they could not compete with them in terms of finances.
Kiunjuri went on and said that their focus is 2022 and they will not allow BBI to derail their ambition. He added that even if the BBI passes, it will not mean that their side has lost. The former cabinet secretary also declared to continue supporting the deputy president in his 2022 presidential bid.
Mwangi Kiunjuri is one of key politicians from the Mt Kenya region who is believed to command a huge following. He is expected to be one of the top politicians from Mt Kenya region who will form Ruto's 2022 campaign team.
Kiunjuri has recently launched a party called TSP. He spoke in Nyandarua county on Sunday 14, where he had accompanied the deputy president for a church function. His presence is a huge boost for Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
