Thursday, January 5, 2017 will remain in the minds of many politicians in the country, especially those who supported Kenya's ruling party, the Jubilee Party.
On that day there was a debate on the elections laws amendment Act of 2016. Intense debate was witnessed in the floor of senate parliament between the two factions, the opposition and those who supported the government at the time. The opposition wing was led by Siaya Senator James Orengo while the government side was led by professor Kithure Kindiki.

Standoff ensued between the two camps, James Orengo and his fellow senators accuse the pro government senators for supporting the draconian laws. Pro government senators were the majority and won almost every debate.
After a heated debate between the two sides, Senator Orengo issued a statement which was a warning and more of a prophecy.
"Sometimes revolution eats its children, the government can also eat its people. This government is going to punish you more than how they will punish me, I am telling you the truth. In one year you will come to my office crying looking for me to represent you." Said Orengo.
Orengo's prophecy has come to pass, many of those senators who were supporting the government at that time have been punished by the same government they supported.
The first to be punished is the former majority leader in the senate professor Kithure Kindiki who was promoted to deputy speaker after 2017 general elections but he was removed from that position and replaced with Uasin Gishu senator Margaret Kamar last year. Another one to face the music of the same government they supported was Elgeyo Marakwet's Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who was ousted from his post as the Majority leader. The latest to be punished by the same government he supported is former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.
Mike Sonko was a Nairobi Senator at the time but things got better when he ran for governor and won. Sonko clashed with the national government and was eventually ousted. As if that wasn't enough, Sonko is currently in deep problem, as he has been arrested and where he is facing number of lawsuits against him in court.
So we can say the prophecy of James Orengo has come to pass, Jubilee government is now hunting those leaders they supported it.
