Governor Nderitu Muriithi was born in in 1967 in Shamanei Laikipia County. He attended Shamanei Primary school then proceeded to Kagumo High school. He qualified to join Alliance High school in 80s where he passed with fying colours. He therefore joined Xavier University in Canada where he pursued economics. From there he went to Sydney University for masters degree. Muriithi worked as economics and financial anaylst in Canada, South Africa, Sydney, and Kenya. He served as assistant minister of Industrislization during Kibaki's government. Nonetheless, he was involved in the scandal that led to the fall of Ngarua Millers in Laikipia.

Nderitu Muriithi was elected in 2017 through independent ticket and during his tenure he has tried to resuscinate the Ngarua Millers but it failed since people saw it as an attempt to privatize a cooperative. He has also been accused of attempting to privayize slaughter house in Nanyuki. Nderitu Muriithi is one of the governors who is ranked as the most performing. He is currently in support of Raila's 2022 bid something that has thretened his political career as majority of Laikipia residents subscribe to William Ruto's ideologies.

Muriithi is married to Maria Mwandime who is a lawyer. The two have lived a lavish life thanks to their close association with President Kibaki. Governor Muriithi is former President Kibaki's nephew. They prefer keeping their children away from the public and we respect their decision.

“He(Kibaki) was paying my school fees, both in secondary and high school. I don't understand the real context. But I think my father had something to do with his own going to school. And he paid for many of us,” Muriithi recounts. "My late father Alex and Kibali also organized for me to go to St Francis Xavier in Canada to pursue economics. I did economics since he was my mentor."
