A section of leaders from Kiambu County have called for unity in Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2022 general elections. Governor James Nyoro, former Governor William Kabogo and Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina have urged the region to speak in one voice for the maximum bargaining power.
They were speaking at the weekend during the burial ceremony of Hellen Wanjiku, former deputy county assembly clerk. Kabogo said that efforts were ongoing to unite warring leaders from the region in bid to have unity of purpose ahead of the 2022 general elections.
He added that the vote-rich region had a capacity to produce the next president and failure to unite would give leaders from other regions to take advantage of the region's huge voting bloc.
He however added that the ongoing efforts to unite the leaders could end longstanding differences and possibly see them support a common cause.
