Irene Masit is the fourth commissioner among Juliana Cherera's team that disowned the 9th of August Presidential results announced by the chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Wafula Chebukati.
Besides, she is the only remaining commissioner from the team after Juliana Cherera, Wanderi, and Justus Nyang'aya resigned from the commission.
The four commissioners were accused of violating the Constitution, abuse of office, and gross misconduct. Consequently, four petitions seeking to remove them from office were tabled before the National Assembly. Nonetheless, the House asked the President to form a tribunal to interrogate them and find the truth behind the allegations.
After the resignation of the three commissioners, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance maintains that the tribunal will continue to investigate the matter.
To the reports, Irene Masit's lawyer Donald Kipkorir defends her saying that she will be vindicated in due time. The lawyer distances Irene Masit from the claims saying that she stood for justice.
