Outgoing Siaya Governor Cornel Amoth Rasanga is reportedly planning to vie for the Alego Usonga Parliamentary seat during next year's general polls.

The Governor is among a host of County bosses who are illegible to vie again, after serving for the two-term period stipulated in the constitution.

In a bid not to stay out in the cold, Rasanga is reportedly eying the Alego Usonga seat currently held by Samuel Atandi. And Atandi is promising to give him a run for his money.

Speaking at an even t in Siaya County on Saturday, the first term MP promised Rasanga a stiff competition.

He promised to beat him "pants down" during the ODM party nominations and the general elections. Atandi was elected MP in 2017, replacing George Washington Omondi Muluan.

Rasanga is not the only outgoing governor eyeing an MP seat. He is sailing in the same boat as his Busia County counterpart Sospeter Odeke Ojaamong.

Ojaamong wants to be elected the next Teso South MP.
