New City?; Kenya To Have A New City Incase A Proposal To Transform This Town Is Approved

The fourth governor of Kiambu county, Wamatangi has now revealed that he is aiming to make a proposal to the government to declare Thika town a city. While making his speech during an interview with a local media house, governor Wamatangi has noted that Thika town has already gained the status of being called a city.

The Kiambu governor has noted that the elevation of Thika from a town to a city will open the floodgate to more developments within the most industrious town in Kenya. Governor Wamatangi has noted that Thika will become an economic hub of the country Incase it's city status will be approved by the national government.

Wamatangi has noted that his county administration is now focusing on developing more infrastructures within the town before making the City proposal to the national government. The governor has noted that he is going to develop more roads with an aim to reduce the traffic congestion being witnessed within the town.

The governor has also noted that he will improve the clean water supply within Thika. Wamatangi has noted that he is looking forward to work with the national government in boosting the security within Thika town. The governor has expressed hopes that his proposal to elevate Thika town to a city will be approved.

Meanwhile, Thika town has been considered as the top industrious town in the country, this is because of the high numbers of factories and industries situated within the town. It's closeness to Nairobi city has been boosting it's economic status over the years.

If approved, Thika will now become the fifth city in Kenya. Previously, Kenya had three cities which were; Mombasa, Nairobi and Kisumu. A few years ago, Nakuru joined the list of Kenyan cities.
