President William Ruto was treated to a heroic welcome in Homa Bay County to launch a series of development projects in the region which is a key political backyard of Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga.
The President was received by a host of area leaders, including Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga and former county chief Cyprian Awiti and Ex- Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.
Also on the ground to welcome the Head of State was Interior Principal Secretary, Dr Raymond Omollo, Homa Bay senator Moses Kajwang, ODM chairman John Mbadi and Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo.
The President who is accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, is on a two-day tour of the Nyanza region which is a key political backyard of the former Prime Minister.
During Dr Ruto's last tour of the region, most Nyanza politicians and elected leaders snubbed the Head of State. But this time round, things have changed after the former Premier asked the locals to give the President a befitting welcome.
