Sabatia Member of Parliament Clement Sloya has landed in trouble with a section of political experts and leaders from the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance after saying that President William Ruto must rule for 10 years.
Speaking with the media a day ago attending a meeting that brought together political leaders from the Western Region and was presided by the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Sloya, a UDA MP said that the Western Region is seeking to consolidate its votes, and will support Ruto for his re-election in 2027.
According to Political Commentator Hesbon Owilla, this is not the time to talk about the 2027 polls, since Kenyans are waiting for development, and not unnecessary political comments.
"It is very unfortunate for some politicians to start these conversations of so and so will rule for 10 years, that is not what we want. Who will become the president in 2027 is based on how the political players will work for Kenyans."
"If the president who has said he is not focused on politics now delivers at least 30 per cent of his promises, it is not the MPs to tell us he has delivered, Kenyans will give him another term, but if he does not, then it wouldn't matter what the MPs are saying, Kenyans will show them."
Listen to Owilla, from minute 18:21.
