Assistant Inspector General of Police, Oloonkishu Yiampoy was promoted to the head of presidential escort unit on Friday, 21st October 2022. Yiampoy took over from Josephat Mputhia Kirimi who was deployed to the National Focal Point for small armories and weapons. The Egerton University graduate served as the head of security in the office of the Deputy President for over 10 years. He also served different presidential units for over 26 years.

According to the National Police Service, he will lead the security team by protecting Ruto and also his family and visiting head of states. The presidential Escort Unit is also charged with protecting Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other VIP as directed by Inspector General. Yiampoy will have to employ different strategies in order to keep the President safe. He will also collaborate with Ruto's aide de camp, Colonel Fabian Lengusuranga to effectively execute the Presidential security duties.
