How Kalonzo And Mudavadi Have Lost Their Chances To Deputize Raila Odinga

Two presidential contenders will be battling it out in August 2022 general elections. Raila Odinga and William Ruto are warming up for the most anticipated campaigns ever in the country. The likes of Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi have remained quiet for the most part of Kenyan politics. They have been holding private meetings with other like minded individuals.

With Raila Odinga preparing himself to announce his presidential bid, there are speculations tht he may settle for a Mount Kenya leader for running mate position. This is to bank on the more than five million votes the region boosts of. According to the latest data, Kalonzo Musyoka only commands about two million votes. Mudavadi's region is divided and cannot offer a solid voting block.

This means that Kalonzo and Mudavadi may have lost their chance to be Raila's running mate. The two have also made clear that they won't play second fiddle to William Ruto. This means that they have two options on the thier table. One is to either got it alone as the OKA coalition or support the ODM party leader.

The tricky situation is that the Mount Kenya foundation have been asking Raila to choose from their region. The former prime minister is careful now more than ever to be funded by the wealthy group. President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to rally his region behind him in due time.
