It's sad News to His Excellence President Dr. William Ruto on amendment of constitution plan as the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) declared it unlawful.
President Ruto had requested the Parliament to consider his proposal to start a referendum to amend the constitution. On a letter written to the Parliament, His Excellence had asked the parliament to conduct all required procedure to make the proposal due constitutionally.
" The purpose of this letter is to request that the parliament considers all policy measures to actualize the Promise of our constitution." Stated part of the letter send to the Parliament.
On respond to the above proposal of the president, LSK joined the opposition side in saying that the president is breaching the law in pushing for amendments to the constitution, they urges Kenyans to resist more when it come to public participation.
" The amendment...if pursued by way of the president's proposition, the sovereignty of the people of Kenya would be undermined." Said Eric Theuri LSK president.
