The Speaker of the Senate Hon Amason Kingi has released gazette notice briefing about the special sitting in the chamber following the impeachment of Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
Amason Kingi said that on Tuesday 20th December, 2022, the Senate will have a special sitting in the chamber as from 2.30pm to hear the charges against Hon Kawira Mwangaza, the Governor of Meru, as filed by the County Assembly of Meru.
"On Tuesday 20th December, 2022, The Senate will have a special sitting in the chamber as from 2.30pm to hear the charges against Hon Kawira Mwangaza, the Governor of Meru, as filed by the County Assembly of Meru", stated Amason Kingi.
The impeachment motion of Governor Kawira Mwangaza was approved after 67 out of 69 Members of the County Assembly of Meru voted YES during the impeachment motion debate thus rendering Governor Kawira Mwangaza impeached. Kawira Mwangaza will have to wait upon the Senate decision.
