Today the First Lady Hon. Rachel Ruto visited Mombasa County for official duties. Despite being ODM party's stronghold, the first lady was received warmly by the leadership of the 001 County. Leading on the front was the newly elected governor Hon. Abdul Sheriff Abdulswamad, who with other leaders in the region, received Rachel Ruto at Moi International Airport Mombasa.

Reacting over the same, Kenyans lauded the action by the governor saying that that should be the way to go for every other governors all over the country, irrespective of their political leanings. One Facebook user from Homabay opined that that is exactly what they equally expected in their county. He however regretted that the leadership of the county has always been giving lame excuses of their absenteeism whenever any leader from the National government visits.
" This is what we were expecting to happen in Homabay county too but lame excuses! Be blessed Nassir," Calvince Ouma wrote.
