According to the source, Charles Owino has been appointed as the Director of the Kenya National Focal Point on small Arms and Light Weapons.
Owino was asked by The Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutiambayi to accept the offer in which he gave him seven days to accept or reject the offer starting Monday this week.
Before his resignation from the police spokesman, Owino was the small Arms and Light Weapons agency's deputy director.
On politics Owino was going to deputize former Rarienda member of Parliament Honourable Nicholas Gumbo on United Democratic Movement UDM for Siaya gubernatorial race.
Owino early had shown interest to run for the county top seat on ODM but dropped the bid after humiliation from the party.
