Embu Elders Threaten to Curse Leaders Inciting Chaos in Rallies

A section of elders from Mbeere South constituency have threatened to curse leaders who are using the youth to cause chaos and heckling of other leaders in political rallies ahead of the forthcoming General Election.

The elders said some leaders in the county have sensed defeat and are using youth to create tension in the region and gain their selfish political interests.

Addressing press at Muraru in the subcounty, they said some leaders had developed bad manners of using youths to taint images of others, an act they said was unacceptable.

This comes barely days after some leaders were heckled in Embu during Deputy President William Ruto's tour to the county.

''We want to condemn with strongest words possible the act that happened when the deputy president toured our area on Mbeere South. Some youths who were drunk shouted and heckled leaders who were elected by majority.

We will curse them because this behaviour cannot be accepted in our area,'' said Muli Muasya, an elder in Mbeere.

Mr Muasya urged Mbeere South residents to blacklist leaders who are misusing youth to cause chaos and tension in political gatherings saying that they have no plan for the future of the country .

Samson Ndolo from Mwea ward said that the youths who were heckling leaders in Kiritiri were imported from other areas and they were not from the area .

The elders who were drawn from the four wards of Mbeere South said the act that happened before the eyes of the deputy president has never happened again in this area.

Ndolo urged leaders seeking elective posts from the region to unite and portray a good picture that can be admired by the young generation.

Aron Murithi, on his part, asked leaders to engage in healthy politics that will not jeorpandize development in the area and scare away leaders of good will that will tour the area to bring development.

During the deputy president's visit to Embu, some leaders are alleged to have planted goons in all political stations the Ruto addressed to heckle their opponents and celebrate them.
