As the massive voter registration process by IEBC continues, it is important for Citizens to turn up in their numbers and register as voters, it is equally imperative for politicians to facilitate this process and keep tabs of the number of voters.
According to the 2017 IEBC voter database, Rift Valley leads with the number of registered voters at 4.7 million, followed by Central Kenya with 4 million voters, Nairobi is third with 3.38 million, Ukambani follows with 3.2 million, Nyanza comes fifth with 3 million, Western Kenya is sixth with 2.8 million and to wrap up the top 7 the Coastal region has 2.65 million voters.
The numbers are set to go up, as IEBC targets to register over 6 million new voters, although so far the media has been awash with reports of low turnout.
Of the three major Presidential candidates, only Honourable Raila Odinga has taken his time off to oversee a voter registration drive in Vihiga County last week on Friday.
The situation is particularly worrying in Western Kenya, which is second in terms of population but a distant 6th in terms of registered voters.
