Details Emerge on Why DPP Want Senators Orengo, Murkomen, Mutula Barred From Court Representations

In an apllication filed before the Anti corruption court, special prosecutor James Kihara says Senator James Orengo's presence and participation in a court case is in conflict with his oversight role as a state officer.

According to Kihara, Kenyan courts must start taming what he termed as emerging trends by various leaders to representing individuals charged with matters of public interests. He mentions a few of these leaders as: Senator for Elgeyo Marakwet, Kipchumba Murkomen, Hon. Irungu Kang’ata, Hon. Peter Kaluma, senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Senetor Okong'o Omogeni and Hon. Daniel Maanzo.

The petition was filed following a pending case against former CS Kamau who is facing charges of abuse of office and his willingful failure to comply with set procedures and guidelines over public management funds.

Citing Senator Orengo's case, Kihara argued that the elected Siaya senator is a full time state officer and hence required by law not to engage in any other gainful means for employment.
