The businessman was followed by Susan Njeri Waititu of the ruling Jubilee Party who got 5,698 votes.

Thuku said the defeat of Jubilee in President Uhuru Kenyatta's backyard showed the ruling outfit was 'dead' after it was humiliated by a small party which got registered a few months ago.
The outspoken lawyer said even though Juja residents wanted to send a warning to Jubilee and President Kenyatta, they should not have voted for Koimbori, who he likened to former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

"Jubilee is long dead. That is in no doubt. I wish Juja people elected even a candidate in another smaller party NOT Koimburi. Or at least they elected another person on UDA. They have just brought in another Waititu," Thuku posted on Facebook.
But Juja voters defended their choice for Koimbori saying he has been on the 'ground' and they did not back him to punish Uhuru as it is being alleged.
Posting on popular 'Juja People' Facebook group, they said even if Koimbori had vied on Jubilee ticket they could have still voted for him since they believed he was the best candidate.

"Susan isn't a politician leave alone a suitable candidate, Koimburi was the only option no one punished the state they just made a wrong choice of their candidate their strategy must have been sympathy votes," said Fiora Wairimu Mbugua.
"Its not punishing the system. Its a wakeup call to political parties to have a fair nominations. Koimburi was in Jubilee nominations. Ona Sasa! Same thing happened in Thika town during 2017 general election," Peter Kironyo added.
