Governance Expert Kevin Osido, has said that the differences between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy Dr William Ruto are personal, and they started long time ago not during the handshake with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking on an interview with TV47, Osido argued that the differences between the Head of State and his deputy started very early before the 2017 elections, only that they not being brought on limelight. Hence they cannot be attributed to the handshake between the President and the ODM leader which happened later on in March 2018.

Therefore, that's a clear indication that their differences are more personal than just working relationship, that's why the President decided to sideline the DP immediately after the handshake because he knew that his new relationship with the opposition side, will still help him deliver on his legacy and agenda without him. "The issues between President Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto did not start with the handshake. They are fighting over personal issues which started long before 2017 elections." He said.
