Bomet former governor Isaac Ruto defied President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive of containing COVID-19. On Saturday the Chama Cha Mashinani party leader held a massive political rally in Narok county. Ruto who was attending his friend's house warming party couldn't resist the huge political ground the excited locals had given him.
Ruto is a national political figure and despite him being in another county where he is not vying, he still pulls crowds. The point of concern however is their safety and despite few people having masks on , no social distancing was witnessed. This is a worrying trend as the third wave of Coronavirus continues to ravage the country.
Political leaders have known superspreaders as they least respect the set protocols. William Ruto in his part held a closed-door meeting with Mt.Kenya leaders to allegedly discuss the needs of the community and how the DP would address them come 2022 if he succeeds in his presidential bid.
In his address to the nation today President Uhuru Kenyatta despite lifting cessation of movement in disease Zoned counties held to the political rallies ban. Even so, politicians are still holding rallies without any action being taken.
