Katoo Ole Metito, a former Kajiado South Member of Parliament, has been appointed as the state house comptroller as President William Ruto continues to reward his supporters.
Kinuthia Mbugua, who worked for previous president Uhuru Kenyatta, is replaced by Metito. In the Kajiado governor's contest, Joseph Ole Lenku of the ODM defeated Metito in the voting on August 9.
Joseph Kinyua, the departing chief of the public service, said on Friday, October 14, that Metito had been promoted. Metito's new responsibilities will include running the State House's budget and administration. He will also serve as Ruto's personal secretary, which means he will be in charge of managing Ruto's diary and other private secretary duties.
Since 2013, Metito has served as an MP for Kajiado South for two terms. In order to make sure Ruto keeps his commitments to Kenyans, his position as state house comptroller is crucial. As part of his new position, he will also collaborate with Ruto's medical professionals to plan and carry out the President's periodic health examinations. Felix Koskei, the recently appointed chief of staff and executive of the public service, and Metito will collaborate closely.
