Raila Now Worried About Mudavadi After Noticing What Ruto is Allegedly Doing to Him

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is getting a raw deal with regards to his position in the Kenya Kwanza government, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has said.

Mudavadi, a former Vice President, has since been appointed the chief minister by President William Ruto, just as Ruto had promised in his campaigns.

But Raila has laughed at his position, pointing out that Ruto is giving him an empty office without any job descriptions, and now wants the necessary done and Mudavadi given a portfolio.

“(Musalia) Mudavadi should have a portfolio and assigned prime minister,” he said in Mombasa on Sunday, as is reported by The Standard.

The former Prime Minister, who has worked with Mudavadi for years, made the remarks while speaking to journalists outside Mombasa’s ACK Memorial Cathedral after attending a Sunday service.

He once again accused Ruto of stealing his ideas, claiming that the position he has created for Mudavadi is the same one that was proposed in his Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) constitutional amendment push that Ruto vehemently opposed.

Raila said that the same applies to Ruto's push for the creation of the Office of the Official Leader of Opposition, and accused Ruto of trying to go against the law by trying to use the parliament alone.

He maintained that the process must be approved by Kenyans through a referendum and not the parliamentary shortcut Ruto has chosen.

“The office of the opposition leader is anchored in the BBI and let’s talk from there. This has to be extensively debated by the people of Kenya,” Raila, who lost to Ruto in last year's general poll, said.

Prior to joining Ruto, Mudavadi was on Raila's NASA camp, before leaving to join Kenya Kwanza. The same was the case with National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, the other top Western Kenya leader.
