Strike is still on, Panyako says

Aluta continua! Medical practitioners press on with their strike.

The fate of the ongoing medical practitioners' strike is still uncertain.

Addressing mourners at the burial ceremony of Kabuchai legislator James Lusweti, the Kenya National Union of Nurses sec Gen Seth Panyako has insisted that the strike is still on untill their grievances are heard.

Mr. Panyako said that the government has sidelined their rights at the expense of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) agenda.

"The government is pressing on the BBI referendum but the same government cannot account for the rights of doctors," Panyako lamented.

"BBI has not captured on supplying medicine and medical tools to hospitals as well as ending regular strikes. There's budget for BBI referendum but nothing for the doctors."

The irate Panyako asked the president to polish his legacy lest he'll be blamed after his retirement.

"People have entrusted in your leadership Mr President and you must turn things around in the health sector or else history will criticize your legacy, " he bitterly said.
