A section of Mount Kenya members of parliament are against William Ruto's presidency. Most of these leaders are found in the ruling Jubilee party. With the support of president Uhuru Kenyatta they are determined at making sure that the deputy president does not have a say in their area. Various strategies have been out in place and are likely to be deployed next year.
One legislature allied to Uhuru Kenyatta has said that their fast plan is to sell success stories. This is by telling the locals of what their regime has done for them. They believe that most parliamentemerians allied to DP Ruto have not delivered enough. This will be their weakness and they will utilize it in their advantage.
Another strategy is unite the region under a leader who is opposed to Ruto's leadership. This is why they made Martha Karua to be their spokesperson. She has the skills to negotiate in times of crisis owing to her contribution in 2007. The Narc Kenya party leader is a political rival to the UDA camp.
Lastly is selling Raila Odinga as their preferred candidate. This is proving to be a daunting task for the leaders. Raila Odinga has been hated by the people of the region for years. Reversing that ideology seems to be hard but possible. Raila only needs 20 percent of the votes from Mount Kenya.
