Presidential Debate secretariat has announced the dates and Moderators for this elections debate. In addition to the Presidential and Deputy presidential Debates, the team has also included the Nairobi gubernatorial Debates.
According to the press release, the Nairobi county gubernatorial Debates will be conducted on Monday 11th July 2022 from 5 PM to 10PM. For deputy presidential Debates, they will be held on the 19th of July 2022, time remains the same.
Presidential Debates will be held on 26th of July 2022 from 5PM to 10PM. All the Debates will be held at the Catholic University for Eastern Africa main campus which is situated in Karen, Nairobi.
According to the same press release, the Nairobi gubernatorial Debates will be held in two sessions, the first session will be for the candidates who have been scoring less than 5% in the last three opinion polls and it will be moderated by Serfina Achieng of KBC and Ayub Abdikadir of K24 TV. The first debate will run from 6PM to 7:30PM.
The second session featuring popular candidates will run from 8PM to 9:30 and will be moderated by Zubeida Koome of KTN News and Mark Masai of NTV.
Waiga Mwaura of Citizen TV will moderate discussions for the two Nairobi gubernatorial Debates.
However, for the Presidential Debates, the Moderators will select the questions to be asked and shall not share the same with the candidates, they will not meet any of the campaign teams or the presidential candidates.
