Speaking at a breakfast show on a local radio station Tuesday morning, former Governor of Kiambu William Kabogo Gitau made a stunning about-turn on his stand over the Building Bridges Initiative document.

"I don't understand how leaders from other parts of Kenya are fighting BBI claiming that the big percentage is going to Mount Kenya region yet our people are all over rejecting this bill. Are we bewitched? Let's open up our eyes".
The increment of new Constituencies and equitable distribution of the County Revenue Allocation is seen as favouring Central Kenya. And yet, according to Kabogo the people of the region are mobilized by local leaders to campaign against the document. Where's the morality then in the rest of Kenyans rejecting the BBI proposals?
In his efforts at rebranding Kabogo has been careful not to involve himself in the politics of the presidential succession.
Honourable Kabogo who has been credited for a rational approach towards issues has lately been on a tour of rebranding, meeting youth in the wider Kiambu County. Initially even when he criticized the BBI report he did not go the fanatical Tangatanga route but used logic to discredit aspects of the Bill that could be improved.

Meanwhile a curious liaison is developing between Kabogo and Uasin Gishu billionaire businessman Bundotich Kiprop Buzeki as word in the grapevine has it they will soon be launching a new political party. Both Kabogo and Buzeki have publicly criticized the deputy president William Samoei Ruto accusing him of "political conmanship". Both Kabogo and Buzeki do not support the policies of either Jubilee or ODM and it makes sense therefore that they are working on a new political outfit.
He called out the bluff of Tangatanga operatives when they tried to associate him with a direct criticism of Raila Amollo Odinga.
Lately William Kabogo has been critical of the crumbling structures in Jubilee Party but he did not publicly voice his support for the BBI until this morning.
