Not Kenya Kwanza: DP Ruto To Run For presidency Under UDA Party

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has confirmed that Deputy president William Ruto will run for presidency under the UDA party and not as a Kenya Kwanza Coalition candidate.

Only one candidate would be vying for the top presidential sit under a Coalition party and it's the right honourable Raila Odinga whereas 40 candidates will seek to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as independent candidates.

Iebc has also invited gubernatorial and presidential aspirants for clearing and registration scheduled the the 23rd of May as an activity to be carried out by the Presidential Returning Officer and the County Returning Officers respectively.

In the previous elections both president Kenyatta and DP Ruto both folded their parties TNA and URP to form Jubilee which was their ticket to statehouse.

In this election the Kenya Kwanza coalition has more than 5 political parties, but they've decided to field candidates under individual parties without observing the party zoning each party to field candidates to battle it square and square in the upcoming elections.

In a statement on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, IEBC confirmed Deputy president William Ruto is among the 14 presidential aspirants who have submitted their bids to IEBC to contest for the top seat under their political parties' tickets.
