The independent Electoral and boundaries commission recently announced that there would be a by election soon. The upcoming by election is to be held in Eldas ward in Wajir, Kiagu ward in meru county and Nguu/Masumba ward in Makueni county. This saw many candidates apply for the UDA party candidature for all the three wards. This forced the party to come up with charges for candidates who are interested to vie on the party's ticket. Members of the County assembly were to be charged ksh 20 000 each while applying for consideration.
Hon Daniel Musau, who expressed interest in vying for Nguu/Masuu ward seat, has been fronted by UDA as the most preferred candidate. According to the party chairman, Johnstone Muthama, the party had settled on him as the most preferred candidate.Musau had visited Muthama at his Gigiri office accompanied with grassroot leaders from the region. Muthama expressed confidence that Musau will win the seat and help build the party's reputation.
"He paid me a courtesy call yesterday with other grassroot leaders for a consultative meeting at my Gigiri office. We must bring the seat home." Said Muthama. The by elections are scheduled for the 14th October. UDA warned that both Wiper and Jubilee should prepare for a serious contest. Do you think UDA has picked the best candidate?
