Fierce contest expected for the Embu gubernatorial race as community rivalry takes centre stage

The county of Embu under the leadership of Hon. Martin Wambora has been a battle ground for political hopefuls who want to replace the incumbent when he retires. The incumbent, the man with nine lives has been in the helm for ten years and will be leaving office in August to pave way for new leadership to take the reigns of power.

Development records of different aspirants, party of choice and rivalry between the Embu, Mbeere and Akamba communities who are the dominant communities will be a key determining factor on who will be the next governor of Embu county in the coming elections. Other communities also live here like; the Agikuyu, Ameru among other minority tribes will play a major role in shaping the political contest that is the gubernatorial seat.

Gubernatorial hopefuls lined up for the seat are; Nominated MP Cecile Mbarire, Dr. Njagi Kumantha, former senator Lenny Kivuti and Manyatta MP John Muchiri among others. Governor Wambora comes from the Embu community while Kivuti hails from the Mbeere community which argues that this time round it's their time to occupy the coveted seat.

Muchiri, Kumantha and Mbarire comes from the upper Embu where they might share the votes thus ending up to be an advantage to Kivuti as he wants to occupy the seat this time round after loosing to the incumbent in 2017.

However, the choice lies with the people of Embu who will determine the person who will occupy the highest seat in the county come August in the upcoming general elections.
