Troubled Governor Allegedly Abandons a Fight Against Cartels after His Allies Appeared on EACC List

A popular governor who centered his campaigns on a fight against the county cartels and ending corruption in the county is a man under siege days after taking office. This is after he discovered that the very cartels that he intends to fight are his close friends and relatives.

Sources privy to this story have intimated that the county chief is being forced by powerful politicians who campaigned for him to drop the fight against county cartels. The politico who had promised to rid the county of cartels in the first 100 days cannot lift a finger at the moment.

Word has it that the governor had asked the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to furnish him with a list of individuals with ethical issues and graft suspects. To his utter disbelief, the list contained his confidants and some of his famous relatives.

The governor has since been left between a rock and a hard place after that list was leaked to the public. Electorates are waiting to see how he handles the situation while his confidants and relatives are pushing him to abandon that drive. He is damned if he acts and damned if he does not. Only time will tell.
