Sifuna Explains Why He Didn't Attend Ruto's Function

Senator Edwin sifuna.

President William Ruto on Monday toured Mukuru slums to inspect the affordable housing project being undertaken by the government.

In the tour, he was accompanied by Nairobi women representative Esther pasaris and Langata member of Parliament Among other leaders.

However, conspicuously missing was the senator for Nairobi Edwin sifuna who is also the secretary general for ODM.

Speaking to KTN news on Tuesday morning, sifuna has given his reasons of not attending the head of State's function.

He said that he wasn't invited to the event and therefore he couldn't have gatecrashed when protocol demands that whenever the president visits a place, invitations have to be sent.

Further, he accused the president's protocol team for not sending invitation. He however added that his presence isn't necessarily important so long as the people get the serviced.

"I was not invited to President Ruto's tour to Mukuru, anyway physical presence doesn't ensure the concrete that was being poured yesterday dries", said sifuna.

The incident comes a few days after Homabay MP peter Kaluma also complained about the same lack of proper prior planning after missing to attend Ruto's function in his constituency over the weekend.
