Despite the National Cohesion and Integration Commission ( NCIC) terming the word as hate speech and burning it from being used, William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza brigade continued to use the word ' sipangwingwi ' in their rallies.
The word was coined from the famous hit song titled Mi Sipangwingwi sang by ExRay featuring rap sensations Trio Mio and Ssaru Wa Manyaru.
The song nearly brought conflicts in the political scene as both Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya and Kenya Kwanza coalitions adapted it at first.
As revealed by ExRay, both Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya and Kenya Kwanza coalitions approached them to use the song in their campaigns.
According to the Genge tone artist, there was some miscommunication over the matter but they later arrived to an amicable solution. In consultations with Trio Mio's mother who doubles up to be his manager, it was decided that ExRay performs at Kenya Kwanza's event then Trio shows up at the Azimio side.
“We were to perform at the Azimio la Umoja launch and at the same time UDA had approached us. We had to think about how to approach it with Trio Mio's mother to see how we could work with both sides.
“Trio Mio went to Azimio and I went to Kenya Kwanza”, ExRay revealed.
The former Boondocks gang member revealed that it is former Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua who connected them to the DP.
The Usherati hit maker also opened up about the reason why they had to release a remix of the Sipangwingwi song with the country's second in command.
He had to take the bold decision so as to exclude his precious song from criticism that may have emanated from his fans who may have been affiliated to Raila Odinga's side.
When asked of how much he forked out of the Doyen's deep pockets, he refused to reveal the amount of cash for reasons best known to him.
