The issues concerning the Mombasa port are many and controversial. After the Standard Gauge Railway was completed, the government opted to use the SGR as the main transport tool for all port goods destined for Naivasha where there is a dry port. This move destabilised the port operations at Mombasa since all jobs were moved to the inland dry port in Naivasha.
The circus surrounding the port has made various presidential candidates to lure the coastal voters by promising to check into the issue to resolve it.However Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has many times linked the two term Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho to be amongst those who are benefitting from the port operations at the port since he has a company called automart that is performing well.
Mohammed Ali has today sent a message saying that whoever has taken advantage of the situation at the port to make money at the expense of the common people.Ali has shared a newspaper that has covered the story about Joho and his business dealings at the Mombasa port.In the message Ali says that Investigations through his brand name Jicho pevu would still continue and that the Port would be restored.
