Yesterday Kenyans celebrated the 58th Jamhuri day in the country, president William Ruto led the national celebrations at Nyayo stadium in Nairobi while county governors also led the celebrations in their devolved uits separately.

As usual, celebrations went on in Uasin Gishu county, the home county of president Ruto. Uasin Gishu county commissioner has not been happy after a few people turned up f9r the event, Edison Nyale blamed the chiefs for failing to mobilise people to attend such an event. The county commissioner says that they do not want to witness such embarrassment in the county of the president, he has threatned to relieve the chiefs off their duties.

Elsewhere in Mombasa county, the same has been witnessed and the county commissioner promised to take action against them, governor Abdulswamad Shariff pleaded with the commissioner not to take action against them but make them away of their roles.

To become a chief in Kenya, there are set requirements you are supposed to meet like being a resident in the respective location, be a Kenyan citizen, have the required academic requirement and other requirements. The chiefs in Kenya are entitled to monthly salary of between Ksh.30,000 to Ksh.70,000.
