Deputy president William Ruto was today in Meru for development programmes, Ruto was hosted by Meru senator Hon. Mithika Linturi, Ruto made several stops to address the residents of Meru, during his addresses the deputy president urged the residents of Meru to support his presidential bid so that he can continue with the projects they initiated with Uhuru.

Ruto in his speeches described Uhuru as his friend that they had worked with together in 2013 and 2017 to win the presidency. He kept reminding the residents about their friendship with President Uhuru Kenyatta. At a point he asked the residents, "Si Mnajua Uhuru ni Rafiki Yangu?", loosely translated into, Don't you know Uhuru is my friend?.
The relationship between President Uhuru and his deputy has been viewed as broken despite Ruto continuing to maintain that they are good friends, the bitter fall out between Ruto and His boos is seen to be as a result of the succession politics.
