Kenya's Ruth Chepng'etich won the women half marathon by breaking the record with 64:02 minute while Kibiwott Kandie set a new course record of 59:35 in the men's race with men team taking a clean sweep of the podium.
What caught the attention of many Kenyans online was the English words Gideon Moi decided to use in congratulating the duo.
Gideon Moi tweet read, "Well-honed adroitness displayed by Kibiwot Kandie and Ruth Chepngetich in Istanbul Half Marathon 2021 is a stellar reminder of Kenya's unrepentant source of athletic winners. Congratulations Kandie and Ruth for winning gold medals for Kenya and Kamworor for the silver."
Gideon's choice of words like well-honed, adroitness, unrepentant and stellar hit the raw nerves of on line users. Jkiprotich questioned he use of unrepentant because it means lack of regret for a wrong action.
