An opinion poll conducted by a local publication, People daily between Friday 24th September and today Saturday 25th September has placed the reigning governor Anne Waiguru at the last position.

The poll was conducted between three main contestants, Waiguru, Martha Karua, and Purity Ngirici the current women representative.

The poll where a total of 710 people participated in placed Purity Ngirici at position one with 51%, she was closely followed by Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua, Waiguru took the third position at 10%.

This comes after Waiguru hinted at joining the United Democratic Alliance party claiming that the Kirinyaga residents want her to defend her seat on UDA in 2022.

Ngirici and Waiguru will face off in UDA primaries, this will further complicate things, however, politicians in UDA have warned that the first term governor will not be given a free ticket, Ngirici also warned Waiguru to prepare for a stiff competition.
