Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi appears to have disappeared from the public eye days after William Ruto was declared President-elect.

Notably, Matiang’i has failed to appear at press briefings of two Transition committee meetings addressed by the Head of Civil Service Joseph Kinyua of which he is a member.

During the inaugural meeting of the Transition of Powers of the Office of the Presidency, the Cabinet Secretary stepped out among those who attended the committee's meeting.

The last time he made a public was on 9th of August where he issued a tough warning to those who were planning to engage in electoral malpractices while at his backyard in Kisii.

Dr Matiang’i, who cast his vote at Manga Girls PAG High School in Borabu constituency, Nyamira County at 6.30am, said there was no security threat in the country.

"We have not slept. We are reviewing the security situation across the country throughout," said Dr Matiang’i when he addressed journalists after voting.

He has been one of the greatest critics of His Excellency the deputy president William Ruto and has not been running shoulders well with the incoming Head of State.
